There was no update last week as we were on our first LARP! While we were intimidated by all the professional setups at first, it turned out to be pretty fun once acclimated. One thing that wasn't ideal was the timing: turns out it gets really cold in late October! Even worse, it was raining pretty much all day on Sunday and the gas heaters in the tavern ran out on Saturday. Our solution: we built a makeshift shelter around our fireplace:
This resulted in our camp being one of the most frequently visited!
I tried updating my cluster node as it was still on a pretty old fedora version and with Cyber Security Awareness Month going so great, it seemed like a good idea. What I didn't anticipate was my cluster being down for two days as I struggled to bring one of the nodes back up due to fun things like:
- Oracle Linux shipping
drbddrivers now but versions that are too old for piraeus - A fun state where my cilium version was too old for one node but too new for other nodes
- My HA turning out to be a lie
But in the end, most things are updated now. I still need to fix some of the nodes but I know what to look out for now so things should be smooth sailing from here on out.
I also have to update the nextcloud instance for parkour.wien but that's a story for another time, luckily that's not too important.
